1: Where do you live Mr Halley?
Here in Independence I lived up here in this Mrs Morgan Block for five years, and down where I live now for five years, and that will make ten years.
2: You have lived here ten years?
Yes sir.
3: Are these places where you have lived within the corporate limits of the City of Independence?
Yes sir, and I came here ten years ago this spring.
4: Do you know the piece of property called the temple lot that is in controversy in this case?
Yes sir.
5: How long have you known it?
I have known it ever since I have been down here.
6: And you knew it ten years ago?

7: Was it fenced at the time you came here?
It was not fenced until the summer of 1883, – I told Mr Kelley it was fenced in 1884 but I was mistaken in that, for it was fenced the year after I came here which was it was fenced the year after I came here which was in 1882 so it was fenced in 1883. It was fenced in the summer of 1883 some time but I don’t think there was any trees put on it until in the fall of that year. Now that is the best of my recollection about it. I know the time it was fenced for the old gentleman that fenced it was living up at our house for four years, and I was glad to see it fenced, for it lay there rough and tumble as a loose lot, and was used as a camping ground for circuses, and for a circus ground or any other purpose that people who came along wanted to use it for.

I have been a member of the church ever sine 1846, – that is I was a member of the old church at first, and I have been a member of the reorganized church about seventeen years, as near as I can get at it. I could tell you just how long I have been a member of the reorganized church if I had known you wanted it.
